
Launch
of a major A-Level Exhibition
Cardinal Newman College is
launching its largest exhibition to date.
A collaboration
of student’s own work will be showcased
throughout the college next week. Building on
last years success, the Exhibition 2007 will
display a broad spectrum of work from the following
courses; Fine Art, Art and Design, Applied Art
and Design, Digital Photography, Graphics,
Textiles, Film Studies, Media Studies and Music.The
event will outline advanced study in these areas
and aims to give visitors a chance to explore
the Creative Arts and it’s progressions
through Higher Education.
Features will include
A-Level Examination pieces from all the subject
areas and specialist pieces by first and second
year students have also been selected along with
a fantastic display from a Digital Photography
trip to Yorkshire Sculpture Park, student’s
films showing on the Apple Mac’s, the Newman
Choir performance in preparation for their visit
to Prague and much much more!
Many students are celebrating individual successes
having secured places at fantastic Universities
to further their careers in Architecture, Illustration,
Fine Art and Fashion just to name a few, but
two students have applied for an unusual selection
of courses, proving how vast creative Arts has
become in recent years. Second Year student,
Tom Puddephatt (Brownedge St Mary’s) has
gained a place at Hereford College of Art and
Design to take up a BA Honours in Blacksmithing
and David Mawdsley (Our Lady’s) will be
attending De Montfort University to do a BA Honours
in Footwear Design.
The Music Department
are also celebrating after Stuart Robinson,
(Arnold) was one of a select few to be offered
a place at the Royal Northern College of Music
and will take a joint degree studying for a
Performance Diploma, whilst also studying French
and Spanish at Manchester University.
The A-Level Exhibition
will take place on Friday
June 29th. Doors
open at 6.30pm until 9.00pm. For
